Korean Soju —
Bulk Supply for Asia-Pacific

The Fastest-Growing Spirit in the World —
Riding the Wave of Korean Culture
Soju is South Korea's national spirit and, by volume, one of the most consumed distilled spirits on the planet. For decades it was almost exclusively a domestic phenomenon — deeply embedded in Korean social and dining culture, but largely unknown beyond the country's borders and the Korean diaspora. That has changed dramatically. Driven by the global explosion of K-pop, K-dramas and Korean cuisine, soju has crossed over into mainstream international markets at a pace that few spirits categories have matched. It is now one of the fastest-growing spirits categories worldwide, and for RTD manufacturers, hard seltzer producers and brand owners across Asia-Pacific, it represents one of the most commercially compelling opportunities in the category.
Spirit Spring sources bulk Korean soju directly from established South Korean producers, offering supply in ISO tanks and IBCs to customers across Asia-Pacific and beyond.

The Spirit That Travels Well
What distinguishes soju from most other Asian spirits is its accessibility. Typically bottled between 16% and 25% ABV, it sits in a sweet spot that is lower in alcohol than whisky, gin or vodka, but more structured and flavourful than beer or wine. This makes it easy to drink, easy to mix and easy to position across a wide range of consumer occasions — from casual dining to nightlife to RTD and hard seltzer formats.
Soju is traditionally made from rice, though modern production more commonly uses other starches — sweet potato, wheat, barley or tapioca — to produce the neutral ethanol base that defines the majority of the mass-market category. Its flavour is clean, mildly sweet and smooth, with little of the raw material intensity found in shochu or baijiu. That neutrality is a commercial asset: soju pairs effortlessly with food, blends readily with fruit and flavour bases, and is approachable to consumers who might find other Asian spirits challenging.

Two Styles, Distinct Applications
Diluted Soju
The dominant form of modern commercial soju, and the style that has driven the category's global growth. Diluted soju is produced by blending rectified spirit — column-distilled neutral ethanol derived from grain or other starch — with water, and often with small additions of sweeteners, flavourings or fruit extracts. The result is a clean, light-bodied spirit typically in the 16–25% ABV range, packaged in the iconic green bottle that has become one of the most recognisable vessels in the global spirits industry. Flavoured variants — peach, grape, strawberry, yuzu and many others — have been enormously successful internationally, particularly among younger consumers, and have played a central role in introducing soju to markets with no prior Korean cultural connection.
For bulk buyers, diluted soju is the most practical and price-competitive option, offering consistent quality, high volume availability and a flavour profile that functions as a near-ideal RTD and hard seltzer base.
Distilled Soju
The traditional, premium form of soju — produced by pot or column distillation from fermented grain, typically rice, without the addition of rectified spirit. Distilled soju is less sweet and more complex than its diluted counterpart, with a subtle grain character, clean texture and a longer, more satisfying finish. Brands such as Hwayo have led the premiumisation of this style, positioning it alongside craft spirits in high-end dining and cocktail environments.
Distilled soju appeals to buyers developing premium private label products, artisanal RTDs or brands targeting consumers who seek authenticity and provenance. It commands a higher price point than diluted soju and is produced in considerably smaller volumes, which makes access to reliable bulk supply all the more valuable.

Ideal applications
Bulk Korean soju is ideal for hard seltzer and chu-hi style RTD production using diluted soju as a clean, low-ABV base; flavoured soju RTDs and premixed cocktails targeting younger consumers across Asia-Pacific; private label bottling for Korean restaurant groups, Asian grocery retail and online channels; premium brand development using distilled soju for craft cocktail and high-end on-trade positioning; and brand owners looking to capitalise on the continuing global momentum of Korean culture and Hallyu.
